For Mum

Hi everyone,

This card is for my Mum.

I used the one of the sentiments from the Blessed Mother stamp set, I like both sentiments but this one I think suited the card.

I used Marina Mist for the base of the card and a sample of the paper from Beau Chateau DSP.  My Mum loves the sort of look of this DSP with its soft colours.

I used the Two Tags Die and cut out one of the tags in Crumb Cake and the other in Very Vanilla.  The ribbon is the Very Vanilla Velvet Designer Ribbon, which is available in the current Summer Mini.  It is feels so lovely!

Of course there is ‘bling’ as I added some Rhinestones and the light swirl is from the Creative Elements stamp set.

Piggy Best

Hi everyone,

I have created a card today which suits a couple of challenges.

The sketch from Stampin Queen’s Sketches and an animal theme from There She Goes you had to use the sketch, unfortunately I missed adding my card but regardless I had fun.

I also decided to try the challenge from Simon Says which was to use 3 different papers.

You know this is not as easy as it sounds, well for me it was a challenge.  Layering cardstock I find easier then layering 3 different papers.

In the end I decided to use the Cheerful Treat DSP pack and the piggy image from the Button Buddies stamp set.

I took colour inspiration from the DSP pack which is  Concord Crush, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade and Whisper White.

I stamped the little piggy in Melon Mambo and then used the 1-1/4” (3.2 cm) Circle punch for his body, which is one of the layers of DSP. I then layered him on the stamped image.

I stamped the image again in Melon Mambo and then punched his nose out with the small circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

His little body and nose have been added to the card with Dimensionals to give him a little bit of depth.

Can’t you see that he is smiling at you with his lovely bright eyes – yes I used my favourite accessories, Rhinestones for his eyes!

Supplies:

Stamp set: Perfect Words (Hostess), Button Buddies

Card: Concord Crush, Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Concord Crush

Accessories:  1-1/4” (3.2 cm) Circle Punch, Cheerful Treat DSP, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

I thought he was the BEST!  so the sentiment suited fine :)

I will enter this card at the challenges found at :

Hello Baby

Hi everyone,

Hope your weekend has been great or that it will be great – depending on where you in the world.

The weather here in Sydney has been lovely again today, a little humid but there is a lovely breeze blowing now and you can hear the birds chattering away.

A lovely friend of mine had a little girl about a month ago and I finally caught up with her today and meet little Christina for the first time.

I took over a small gift and I made a card, not in the traditional pinks.  I used some of the colours from the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper and the happy little elephant image from the Elebration stamp set.

A little bit of Glitz

What a beautiful day we have had today lovely sunlight with a slight breeze just wonderful.

I have been playing around with a sketch I saw on the Clean and Simple web site – click here to have a look.

Unfortunately the link closed before I could link my card but when I saw the sketch I just knew I wanted to use the Medallion background stamp as the larger image on the card.

I used the Iridescent Ice embossing powder on the Medallion image for a little extra ‘bling’ but I also used a Rhinestone on the butterfly!

I thought the sentiment from the Elements of Style stamp set was a nice addition and I layered this on some Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon.

I used one of the Tags from the Lots of Tags Sizzlits Die Set and punched them out on Very Vanilla and Pretty in Pink cardstock.

The Very Vanilla tag has been trimmed so you get see the edge of the Pretty in Pink cardstock underneath.

I like the card, at first I thought it was too dark but the card is growing on me.

Butterflies….

It’s been a lovely day and I have been catching up on television shows I have taped so far this week.

I have had a cup of tea and decided to create a card for the current colour challenge at Creative with Connie and Mary – Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip and Lucky Limeade.

I also wanted to use the sketch #178! at clean and simple

The card I had planned out didn’t work so I was giving up for the evening until I was on my second cup of tea and had another thought of what might work.

I am sure that you have had experienced a similar moment where is just doesn’t come together but later it works out – well that seem to work tonight.

I am happy with this quick bright card.

I used the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set which has been hiding on the shelf with the colour combo and the sketch.

My Friend

Evening everyone, how are things with you?

I had planned a night of lots of crafting but I have been reading this book called Unearthly by Cynthia Hand and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it!

It was a great book and I am now on to the second novel in the trilogy but I have left that aside to start tomorrow night :)

I do have a card a wanted to share with you which I created using the Pals Paper Arts Sketch (PPA) and the colour combo at The Play Date Cafe.

I could not resist the colour challenge of Black, White with a splash of Hot Pink at The Play Date Cafe and I have flipped the sketch from PPA.

I used Melon Mambo as my splash of hot pink and the Fifth Floral stamp set for the images.

Supplies:

Stamp set: Fifth Avenue Floral, Perfect Punches

Card: Basic Black, Whisper White, Melon Mambo

There is always a little ‘bling’ on my cards – you should know by now it is one of my favourites, just adds that extra touch.

Hope your week is going well… see you next time.. Meg

Dad’s Birthday

We have had another really hot day 27 degrees plus with lots of humidity. The cool rain is now falling and you can hear the distant thunder.

I am sure there will be another crazy storm tonight – it is almost like we are in the tropics!

Today has been my Dad’s birthday and I made two cards for him.  One from Charlize (my daughter) and I and the other for Mum to give him.

So I thought I would share the cards with you.

I have used the retired Motorcycle stamp as my Dad loves his Motor Bike and when I saw this stamp I immediately thought of him.

The first card is a classic Black and White combination with a touch of Real Red – red makes you go faster, didn’t you know :)

Supplies:

Stamp set: Motorcycle, Happiest Birthday Wishes

Card: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Stazon, Basic Black

Accessories:  1/4” (6.4 mm) Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon,  Basic Rhinestones, SNAIL Adhesive

My second card uses Basic Black and Very Vanilla and I have used the a sample  from the lovely Mocha Morning Speciality Paper.  On this paper the flowers and swirls have black flocking which looks great and feels so soft.

I stamped the ‘just for you’ in Soft Suede and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments set.

Dad loved both cards and he has had a great day.

He went with Mum and had coffee this morning, spent time with his sisters for lunch and then after dinner we had chocolate cake - because you are never to old for birthday cake and candles!

Take care and have fun creating !

Bright Birthday

Hi everyone,

It has been a wonderful day, warm with no rain about 26 plus degrees and all the washing aired and dried.

The weather has now changed and the rain is bucketing down and the humidity is terrible!  Hopefully it will cool down during the night.

But I have had a chance to finish a bright birthday card.

I have used one of my old favourites for the base card – Pumpkin Pie with a touch of Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise.

I used the Flower image from the Button Buddies stamp set and the sentiment is from the Happiest Birthdays Wishes Hostess Stamp Set.

The flowers in the vase were punched out using one of the punches from the Itty  Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Supplies:

Stamp set: Button Buddies, Happiest Birthdays Wishes

Card: Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Stripes & Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Decorative Label Punch, Cutter Kit
Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack,  1/8” (3.2 mm) Pumpkin Pie Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, SNAIL Adhesive

I have used the Stripes and Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folders in the Big Shot.  Just love how you can add a little texture with the Big Shot and these wonderful folders.

I have also distressed the Chocolate Chip layer with the distressing tool in the Cutter Kit and of  course I have used the Basic Rhinestones for an added ‘bling’ – another of my favourite things!

Your Fantastic Card

Hi everyone,

Things came to a holt over the past week.

With all the rain we have had lately the phone line had too much water in the underground cable and it stopped.

Then the computer stopped and would not work :(

Now everything seems to be back on track again :)

Below is a card I created with the colour challenge from Paper Players Challenge # 82:

Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.

I used Soft Suede for the base card and one of the sentiments from the Perfect Words Hostess Stamp Set.

Card: Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

Birthday Wishes…

My weekend just flew by, there was so much squeezed in that at the end of the day on Saturday I could not believe how much had been done.

Friday night we had our fortnightly stamping get together and I took my limited supplies, a layout out and the stamp sets as I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but you know sometimes it just does not come together.

So I tried again.

I was trying to use the sketch layout from Clean and Simple Sketches with the Colour Challenge from Create with Connie and Mary.

   2012 Create Challenges-005

I have seen so much done with the Blossom Party Die but have not had a chance to use it yet.

In the end that was what I need to make everything come together to create my card.

I used Concord Crush for the base card and layered the die cut the flowers.

 IMG_1925_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess set)

Card: Concord Crush, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Ink: Concord Crush

Accessories:  Blossom Party Die, Circle Ice Rhinestones, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

If you have read some of my older posts you will know that I love ‘bling’, so I have used a lilac colour Rhinestone Brad from the Circle Ice set for the centre of the flowers.  You can just see the touch of colour in the Rhinestones in the photo.

I struggle sometimes to make a clean and simple card so I am happy with the result plus it did not take long to make.

This card has been linked to the following challenges found at:

Feeling Flirtatious….

You know when you get something new like the current 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue or a copy of the latest craft magazine, there is always something you just have to have or some new technique you just have to try.

Well one of these things I had to have from the new catalogue was the Flirtatious Speciality DSP.  I loved the bright happy colours like Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.

But the paper co-ordinates so well with the Delicate Doilies stamp set – yes you guessed it another thing I had to have :)

So I am not letting these things gather dust – both the DSP and the stamp set have seen the light and are ready for a challenge.

I hardly ever use buttons so I wanted to complete the current Recipe Challenge at The Pink Elephant Challenges

This weeks challenge is a
Recipe Challenge
1 Image, 2 Pattern Papers, 3 Buttons

I also found a different card layout at the The Sweet Stop  and I thought this layout would be good for the 2 Pattern Papers required for the Recipe Challenge above:

……. now I just had to put it altogether!!!!

I co-ordinated the cardstock with the Flirtatious DSP and used Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White cardstock for my card.

The end result:

IMG_1911_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Delicate Doilies, Perfect Words (Hostess set)

Card: Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight

Accessories:  Word Window Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Flirtatious Speciality DSP, Sanding Blocks, Cutter Kit, Mini Glue Dots, Ice Cream Parlor Buttons (retired), Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

You can faintly see in places on the DSP, that I have sanded the paper and I have used the distressing tool which is part of the Cutter Kit on the layer of Wisteria Wonder cardstock.

I often think afterwards that it would be good if I used the sanding blocks but never remember so I am happy that I remembered this time.

I have also linked this post to the challenges found at:

Crazy4Challenges – Lots of Layers & Embellies, yep have a few layers with buttons

Craft Your Days Away – Distressing,  yep have this too.

Hope your day was good, thanks for visiting once more.  Until your next visit keep safe and well…. Meg
